KOCHI: Career advancement platform 'Star In Me' emerged as the winner of the 'She Power Hackathon', organised in association with the US State Department to address critical issues faced by women in India.
'Karma', a startup that introduced reusable sanitary napkin solutions, became the first runner-up while 'Echo Rich Technologies', which presented the Smart Napkin Incinerator, became the second runner-up.
'Pinkpal', a Women Security System presented by a group of students from FISAT, received the jury's special mention. Startup India Investment Specialist Khushbu Verma announced the winners.
The winners will receive a cash prize worth Rs 1 lakh and incubation and mentoring support. Hundreds of innovators participated in the virtual hackathon organised with the support of Kerala Startup Mission.
'She Power' had invited innovative technology solutions in the areas of 'Women's Reskilling after Covid', 'Women Safety' and 'Women's Hygiene'. The She Power Virtual Hackathon and Summit was organized by Nisha Krishnan, co-founder of Channeliam.com, in collaboration with the US State Department and World Learning.
The three-day virtual summit had sessions by prominent persons including Kerala health minister K K Shailaja, 'pad man' and Padmasree winner Arunachalam Muruganantham, ADGP Manoj Abraham IPS, and senior advocate N S Nappinai.
